Marc Lapierre | Marc grew up in the agricultural area of Renfrew County, Ontario. He always enjoyed being outdoors, but never grew up in a hunting family, it wasn’t until some buddies took him grouse hunting in his late teens that he developed an interest for hunting. In his early twenties, Marc embarked on his first field hunt for geese, and was instantly hooked on waterfowl hunting. As the seasons have passed, he has turned his hobby into a passion, and maybe even an obsession. He can’t get enough waterfowl hunting jammed in to his schedule and he tries to incorporate some type of hunting activity into his daily routine. "In the fall, I spend as much time as I can hunting, scouting, studying and even guiding for waterfowl. The majority of the time I field hunt for geese, but also venture out onto the water to try my hand at puddlers and divers. Due to my close proximity the Ontario/Quebec border, I am able to hunt in both provinces each season, and I also try to incorporate a hunting trip or two each year. " Marc also enjoys spring turkey hunting, summer bass fishing, and late season bow hunting for whitetail deer. When not hunting, he spends time working as a Financial Advisor at Frank Carroll Financial www.fcfinancial.ca and also loves to hang out with his best friend and spouse, Martha. |
Corey Baker | Corey resides in Southern Ontario, Canada. Hunting and the outdoors has thankfully not only been his passion, but also has been his career for the greater part of the last decade. This has allowed Corey to spend an average of 4-5 days a week in the field. Although archery hunting and competing are a big portion of Coreys life, waterfowling is his passion. For the last 12 years Cory has been addicted to the art of duck and goose hunting. "My season normally starts off in the beginning of September, with the early goose hunts taking place out of layout blinds hidden amongst decoys in cut wheat fields. Then once the regular migratory season arrives, our focus transfers from geese to ducks, where hundreds of puddler ducks find themselves cupped and committed over our river decoy spreads. Each week from September- January I am joined by friends and family members doing what we all have a passion for, no matter what mother nature throws at us." |
Matthew Boisclair | Born in South Hampton, England Matt immigrated to Ontario, Canada when he was only 4 years old. Growing up in the Ottawa Valley, it was only a matter of time before Matt started hunting and fishing with his new Canadian friends. Throughout his life, Matt has been part of countless hunting trips, adventures and fishing tournaments. At one time he was owner and operator of a guiding service that took clients out on outdoor excursions, and still from time to time takes people out hunting or fishing to show them the outdoors. Matt spends the majority of his time hunting for geese, ducks and wild turkeys near his home on Allumette Island. He also hunts each year for both whitetail deer and moose with his compound bow. When not hunting, he spends time training his two Labrador retrievers Angel and Hunter. With over 25 years experience hunting every type of wild game imaginable, Matt brings loads of knowledge and skills to the table. Matt plays a great roll in his area’s hunting and fishing community as he is the Service Manager at the local marine dealership Dick Plummer Marine www.dickplummer.ca., He is also involved in several bass fishing tournaments, and is a member of the volunteer Fire Department. |
Mike Mercer | Mike is relatively new to waterfowl hunting and focuses on puddle ducks and canada geese when he is afield. Mike spends threed days per week in the field through hunting season. One on Mikes strengths is getting new people in to hunting and taking them when he is hunting. Mike also enjoys grouse and pheasant hunting. Predator hunting is also a passion for Mike, and he sure does hunt hard when the conditions are right. "Basically I am a regular outdoorsman. I am a student of the game and spend as much time learning about hunting and gathering knowledge as actually hunting. If you don't learn something each hunt, you ar not paying attention." |
William "Billy" Paynter | William is 35 years old, married to a great wife and has 3 super little boys, 14 , 12 , 8 . Like many hunters, his father introduced him to waterfowling and he has been hooked ever since. In 2004 William purchased his first short reed goose call and began a new passion for calling, and many hours of practice , he placed first runner up in the open goose and two man goose in the Eastern Canadian Calling Championship in August of 2005. That fall William had the opportunity to start another chapter in waterfowling and started guiding, he is no longer able to guide due to to his job , but still tries to spend as much time in the field as family life allows. "I’m involved with our local Waterfowl organizations and support such events as our annual supper, youth day and heritage hunts. My two oldest boys are now hunting and we always have a great time together out in the field. I hope to pass my love for the outdoors on to my boys and continue spending my free time afield." |
Tony DiCarlo | Tony was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Introduced to hunting at a young age to what would become his passion in sport. At the tender age of 9, Tony's father grabbed him by the "scruff of my neck" and told him, "were going hunting today." Starry eye’d and full of excitement, Tony and his father went hunting and that day changed his life. Tony is now 42 and still hunts by the same standards and values that his father taught him “Understand the animal you hunt before you have the privilege to take its life”. Tony shares his knowledge and experiences with other hunters and invites anyone who shares the same passion to hunt with him. He loves to watch new young hunters successfully take their first game, memories they will always remember, just as he remembers. "When I am not guiding for deer or waterfowl, I am out chasing moose, turkey and a variety of other small game animals. I currently belong to several hunting organizations promoting the sport of hunting, including the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters and Ducks Unlimited and encourage others as well to invest in the future of hunting. The sport of hunting is truly a privilege, and think everyday that I am so lucky to be part of it." Happy Hunting! Tony Dicarlo |
Josh Clayton | Josh was born and raised in the farmlands of Chatham- Kent, Ontario and now resides in Malahide Township, Southeast of Aylmer, Ontario. Josh began hunting in his late teens, mostly rabbit with a local group of friends, and then progresseD to big game/turkey hunting. It wasn’t until his friend Chris, with his dog Hydro, introduced Josh to waterfowling that Josh truly fell in love with waterfowl hunting, now he spends his season chasing greenheads and geese at every opportunity. Josh and his friend Chris plan on filming their hunts and creating a web site were hunters can watch them drop birds on some of their many hunts. On top of everything, Josh plans on doing a late season hunt in Louisiana, where given the opportunity will film. "Since Hunting with Hydro (a Small Munsterlander) and seeing his drive and love for retrieving, I decided to get myself a retriever. This past fall I got a chocolate lab puppy, Winston, and we’ve been working hard to get him ready for this upcoming fall. I’m finding as much as I’m an amateur dog trainer, my true love seems to be in seeing my canine companion succeed in our day to day trials, having a well trained dog in the marsh is worth its weight in gold. Can’t wait to see what comes of 2011." |
Robert Ziegler | Robert got his start hunting at a young age with his father and never looked back. At forty-four years of age, with over thirty years of hunting experience, Rob makes sure to get Outdoors at every opportunity and grew up on the St. Lawrence River hunting duck and geese until he enlisted into the Canadian army at nineteen. While serving, Rob was able to tour all over the country hunting everything from waterfowl to caribou as he went. Rob retired from the service in '95 and moved to Moose Creek, Ontario with his wife and son. In '98 they were blessed with a little girl, who is eagerly following in her fathers footsteps. Ever since he moved back, Rob has been guiding for geese with various other outfitters before starting MC Hunt Club in 2008. Between hunting turkey in the spring, waterfowl in the fall, and whitetails in the winter, Rob's out in the fields over one hundred days of the year. Not only does Rob guide goose hunts for clients, but also brings the next generation of hunters into the field, teaching the kids the ropes and getting them into the sport. "It's not just about shooting birds," Robert says, "it's about giving people something they'll keep with them for the rest of their lives." Rob is a pro staffer with other outdoor companies. |
Randy Massicotte | Born and raised in southern Ontario Randy has been bless to have a father who introduced him to the outdoors at a very young age, by taking him on his first moose hunt at age four. From there it was waterfowl hunting, and his first hunt was the beginning of a life long passion; thanks to his father. The one thing that drives Randy through the off season, when working long hours in construction, is hunting with close friends and family or when when a bad day off duck hunting turns to a gut busting day of good laughs and memories. Randy looks forward to the start of early goose season in September where he usually locates geese in clover and silage fields. When regular season begins, you will find Randy hunting small ponds and rivers for ducks enjoying his friends dog pull a long retrieve in tall grass, or having a hundred or more mallards cupped all around his decoys; this is the passion and fuel that drives Randy. "So when my construction season starts coming to an end I know that the waterfowl season is starting, and like my father did with me, I hope that my two little girls will have the same passion and drive for waterfowling and the outdoors that I have." |
Peter White | Peter hails from Masstown, Nova Scotia which is in heart of farming country and a stone’s throw from the Bay of Fundy, home of the World’s Highest tides. He is married and is the father of two boys. Peter started to tag along with his Father on waterfowl hunts at the age of 6. Some of his fondest memories were running out in the field after his Father had shot to retrieve the birds as well as the empty hulls. The CIL paper loads that he picked up had a very distinct residual smell. This smell still reminds him of those early good times. Peters interest in wildlife and the outdoors led him to Sir Sandford Fleming College School of Natural Resources to study Fish and Wildlife where he graduated from the Maritime Forest Ranger School in Fredericton, NB. After seven years employed as a Forest Officer in Northern British Columbia, he returned to his home province of Nova Scotia. Peter has been waterfowling for 31 years and has been fortunate to hunt in 7 Canadian provinces. He waterfowl hunts in all 3 Maritime provinces as well as Quebec every year. The enjoyment of introducing young hunters to the sport of waterfowling and shooting sporting clays is something that is rewarding to him. Peter looks forward to the day when his boys are old enough to accompany him in the blind and share some special moments together. In addition to family life and hunting, Peter is a co-owner of a Sporting Clays Club located in Gays River, Nova Scotia. |
Billy Gatto | Billy received his hunting license and all he wanted to do was hunt ducks and geese, now that is all he ever hunts. Hunting at least five times a week is Billys goal, however, sometimes it's difficult to achieve because of his fathers work schedule. Next season he will be able to hunt by himself, so watch out waterfowl. Billy spends a lot of time hunting with his friends in addition to hunting with his father. This season Billy happend to shoot his first banded duck, it was at holiday beach conservation area. It is a day he will never forget. It happened on October 15th, Billy and his dad were hunting for the day; at about 12:30pm his dad was cleaning four birds behind the blind as BIlly stood in the blind. "It was then I heard whistling coming from out front I looked up to see two teal, I grabed my gun and shot the drake first and then folded the hen. The hen was banded. In the 4 years I have been hunting I have shot my fair share of game. Now I enjoy taking out new hunters and just seeing how happy they get when a flock of 40 honkers lands in the hole and they get their first bird. " |
Stephane Hillman | Stephane received his hunting license at the age of twelve and would go duck and goose hunting at every opportunity. After meeting some experienced waterfowlers Stephane learned about decoy placement and shooting technique. Stephane now enjoys lots of hunting success on the water. "My best friends are my brother Kevin and my father, we enjoy hunting together because we have fun, even if we don't shoot anything, we just like to get out, but that's what hunting is all about just getting out and having fun." |
Donovan Weiss | Donovan was born and raised in SE Alberta, Canada, a true waterfowl hot spot. Donovan is 15 years old and has been an avid hunter and fisherman since early in his life. Donovan enjoys getting out hunting when he can, and he is usually successful. This will be his fifth year waterfowl hunting. What Donovan does best is hunting ducks and geese in the fields, swamps, or on the lake and rivers. "Many hunters in their early teens ask me to take them hunting every weekend and enjoy taking them out. I enjoy getting up at 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning to go chasing Mallards and Canada's. I actually watched one of my buddies shoot his first 2 geese and first 4 ducks while I had him along on a hunt. What a feeling that is when you see your buddy harvest his first waterfowl. In the fall, I spend as much time as I can hunting and scouting. The majority of the time I field hunt for mallards, pintails, snows, canada's and even the odd spec." |
Matthew Martin | Matthew Martin is fifteen years old, and ss the grandson of an attorney for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, it was only natural that he became involved with hunting, fishing, and an extreme concern for conservation. Matthew is a freshman in high school and lives just outside of Columbia, South Carolina. He constantly tries to fill his free time with hunting and fishing in any way, shape, or form. Whether it’s fighting a Largemouth in Lake Murray, calling up a tom in the Sumter National Forest, or volunteering at South Carolina’s annual: “Sportsman’s Classic”, he’s doing what he loves to do. “Although, I must express my deep passion for waterfowling, there are people that count sheep to get to sleep; I count cupped Mallards. There are kids my age that would rather sleep in, I’d rather wake up at four in morning and go duck hunting. There’s nothing I’d rather be doing than leaning up next to a Cypress tree in the swamp, when the sun is just breaking the horizon, and watching some screaming woodies blast overhead. If I can get a shot at one, then that’s fine, but if not then it was still a morning well spent”. Being out in the woods with his Grandad, hunting buddies, and a cup of hot tea is all Matthew guy needs to be happy. |
